Image Bank

I chose this collection of six photos to focus on my theme of cigarettes and smoking, which relates to evidence due to the lasting effects of smoking on your body. The evidence of change can relate to the health aspects but also in some of these photographs, lipstick is left all over the butts of the cigarettes, this is another form of evidence showing that you leave your mark everywhere.

These six pictures depict the idea that we leave marks wherever we go, the fact that lipstick can be used to write on mirrors and leave messages but also simple things such as lipstick prints on coffee cups or wine glasses can be the sign of break ups, make ups, business meetings, date nights or engagements. These link to the theme of makeup I hope to focus on in this project.

These six photos in this collection show crushed and ruined makeup, I love the idea of ruined makeup because it shows that it has been used previously or that someone has done something to alter the way it looks, the perfect manufactured nature of its previous life within a box. On makeup brushes, palettes and lids the evidence of use and evidence of people is left on them.

These six photographs in this collection show the transformation makeup can make to a face, makeup can transform both the personalities and identities of a person for example a lot of women in the modern society say that their makeup gives them confidence and makes them feel free-er and able to liver better. This is evidence of how makeup leads to transformations.

I have chosen these six photographs to finish my image bank as this is an area I would like to explore in relation to my whole makeup-evidence theme. This makeup style is known as Avant Garde makeup, which is over extravagant makeup that is often used in high end fashion publications. I believe this is evidence of imagination and strong personality but also freedom to look however we like. Makeup like this could be construed as even evidence of civilization and society
